A Sophomore Course - 10th Grade

  • Mathematics credit

  • Weighted Art credit

  • Capstone for the CTE Arts, Media, and Entertainment pathway

This course explores geometry as both a mathematical system and a creative design tool. Students investigate fundamental geometric principles—such as shape, proportion, symmetry, transformation, and spatial relationships—through hands-on design projects and visual problem-solving. Emphasis is placed on applying geometric reasoning to real-world contexts including architecture, graphic design, product design, and digital media. Through iterative making, drawing, modeling, and critique, students develop an understanding of how geometric structures inform aesthetics, function, and meaning. The course encourages experimentation, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary connections between mathematics, art, and design.

This year-long course can be taken as a sophomore, for 10th graders. It satisfies the “C” Mathematic requirement. The course must be taken at the same time as the Hybrid Honors Digital Media & Design course.
